"Disvant Garde" is a photobook project based on the idea of confront two different speeches to talk about historical, political and social processes of the 20th century.

An Avant Garde adventure full of artifacts that interact with each other in order to complete a jigsaw.

Filippo Tommaso Marinetti

Italian poet, editor, art theorist,

and founder of the Futurist movement.

22 December 1876 – 2 December 1944.

James Graham Ballard

English novelist, short story writer, and essayist.

15 November 1930 – 19 April 2009

Marinetti wrote the futuristic Manifesto in 1909,

where he made explicit the modernist desire

to replace our ancient gods and myths with

the sleeks lines and violent lessons of the automobile.

Ballard wrote Crash in 1973, a fiction novel about

people having sex while crashing cars, where

technology had entered into our most intimate

human relationships.

Not man-as-technology-forming, but technology-as-man-forming.

Marinetti's prose sometimes cuold be exaggerated,

deliberately absurd, poetic, instead Ballard was calm

and collected, with a doctor's eye, dispassionate, ruthless.

One was prophetic, the other had seen everything.

A way to face 20th century, reminding us that dreams are

often perverse, and sometimes, they even come true.
